An error by the referee before the game even started Thursday night has resulted in the Napanee Raiders having another chance to stay in their playoff series with the Clarington Eagles.
The referee gave the Raiders a bench penalty at the end of the pre-game warmup because a player didn’t leave the ice in time.
Napanee appealed the ruling saying it didn’t exist in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s rulebook.
League officials agreed and a second try at game five goes this afternoon (Saturday) at 4:20 in Bowmanville.
Clarington leads the best of seven, three games to one.
