The local unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the country.
The rate for the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area fell from 3.9 per cent in January to 2.3 per cent in February.
The Belleville CMA consists of Belleville, Quinte West, Tyendinaga/Deseronto, and Stirling-Rawdon.
The local rate is 5.1 percentage points lower than it was in February of 2021.
The national unemployment rate dropped from 6.5 per cent in January to 5.5 per cent last month, which is below pre-pandemic levels.
Ontario’s latest rate is also 5.5 per cent, however it was 7.3 per cent in January.
