There was some scary driving going on in Belleville Tuesday night.
City police received several 911 calls about a driver in a Jeep speeding, driving in the opposite lane and running red lights at around 8:30.
Officers located the vehicle on North Front Street but the driver refused to stop, racing away at speeds over 100 kmh. Police stopped chasing out of concern for public safety.
Not long after, the Jeep entered the parking lot of Belleville Police headquarters where it drove right at officers attempting to block it, narrowly missing them.
The driver left the lot and proceeded to slam into a cement hydro pole but continued on for a few blocks before stopping.
The driver, a 29-year-old woman from Belleville, unsuccessfully resisted arrest. The unidentified woman is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, and resisting arrest.
No one was injured.
She appears at a bail hearing Wednesday.
