Jake Campbell scored the overtime winner as the Trenton Golden Hawks beat the Wellington Dukes 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens.
It was Campbell’s second goal of the game.
After a scoreless first period, he opened the scoring on the power play almost eight minutes into the second period.
Jaxen Broyer tied it up for the Dukes at 13:41 of the second.
The teams traded goals again in the third.
Wellington’s Jacob Vreugdenhill scored on the power play just nine seconds into the frame.
The game was tied again at 8:38 of the third when Dalton Bancroft scored shorthanded for the Golden Hawks.
Campbell netted the winner two minutes into overtime.
Ethan Taylor picked up the win in net for Trenton, stopping 30 of 32 shots.
Ethan Morrow made 37 saves in the Dukes net.
The victory gives Trenton a six point lead over the Dukes in the OJHL East standings.
The Golden Hawks are in Toronto Sunday evening to face the Jr. Canadiens.
Wellington’s next game is Monday at Lehigh Arena versus Caledon.
In Junior C play, Napanee and Port Hope skated to a 1-1 tie.
Matthew Sheehy scored for the visiting Raiders 3:05 into the second while Evan Wright tied it up for the Panthers at 13:25 of the third period.
Despite being outshot 48-32, Amherstview defeated the Huskies 4-1 in Frankford.
Elliot Belzile scored twice for the Jets, both goals coming in the second period.
Kurt Gibbs scored the lone goal for Frankford in the third.
The Jets are back in action Sunday afternoon hosting the Campbellford Rebels.
