Two more people have died from COVID-19 according to the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health COVID-19 dashboard.
The latest numbers show there have now been 21 deaths in our region from the virus. One death was a person in their 50s and the other was in the 70 and up category.
There are 124 new cases today (Thursday) and 102 recoveries, bringing the number of active infections up to 1,380.
This is only a small snapshot of the number of positive cases in HPE, as free PCR tests are no longer available for most people, meaning the actual number of cases will be considerably higher than those released by Hastings Prince Edward Public Health.
Of those new cases 57 are unvaccinated, 43 are fully vaccinated and 24 are partially vaccinated.
There are 19 people in hospital and three in ICU.
The age group of 18-29 continues to have the most cases in the two counties, currently with 55.
There are 55 active cases in Belleville, 30 in Quinte West, 12 in Prince Edward County, six in Tyendinaga and Deseronto, five in Central Hastings, 4 on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and three in North Hastings.
So far, 86% of residents five and older have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 79% are fully vaccinated. Over 47,000 have received a booster shot in the last four weeks.
