With some donations still coming in, organizers of the first annual Belleville General Hospital Foundation Medithon are ecstatic with the results.
As of 6 p.m. Friday, more than $47,700 had been raised for the Regional Nuclear Medicine project which aims to replace the three aging cameras at Belleville Hospital with two new, high tech functioning cameras.
CJBQ, Mix 97 and Rock 107 were among five local radio stations that participated in the event on Friday.
The Medithon is supporting this weekend’s annual gala which was recently changed to a virtual format after originally being planned as an in-person event.
BGHF Executive Director Steve Cook said while it’s been a stressful period, the team at the foundation has handled it well.
“We’re a small but mighty team and I’ve got to give it to the team, to be honest, and everybody else that is helping us pull off that event virtually. It’s not easy to pivot so late in the game with three days to go but, again, our guests and our sponsors and the community and people that really have a passion for the hospital have been absolutely amazing and personally and professionally I can’t thank them enough.”
The virtual auction is live on the foundation’s website until Saturday.
Donations are also still being accepted at bghf.ca.
