In the Bay of Quinte there have been approximately 5,500 special ballots submitted.
These special ballots include mail-in votes as well as special ballots cast in person at a returning office.
At the Belleville returning office there have been roughly 1,800 walk-in votes and 2,000 mail-in votes cast.
At Trenton’s returning office there have been approximately 1,000 walk-in special ballots and 700 mail-in ballots.
Election day votes and advance votes will be counted on election night but special ballots won’t begin to be counted until Tuesday.
An elections Canada official for the Bay of Quinte tells Quinte News that they have a team of 12 Deputy Returning Officers prepared to count special ballots Tuesday for six hours.
They say that they’ve allotted six hours on Tuesday and Wednesday to count the special ballots, but hope to finish them all on Tuesday.
