Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting one new death due to COVID-19 today, bringing the total since the pandemic began to nine.
The health unit is also reporting 14 new cases of COVID-19 in our area today, along with eight recoveries, for a total of 79 active.
Nine of the new cases were found in Belleville, with three in Quinte West and two in Deseronto.
Nine cases are also linked to close contact, with the transmission cause of the other five cases still pending.
Sixteen people are in hospital due to the virus, with eight in the ICU and four on a ventilator.
The health unit says it has administered almost 70,000 doses of vaccine, with just over 4,000 people, or two percent of the region’s population, being full vaccinated.
In Northumberland County, the HKPR Health Unit is reporting nine new cases and nine recoveries, keeping the number of active cases at 46.
