The Hastings Prince Edward School Board has issued a letter to the province imploring Premier Doug Ford to add teachers and school staff to the priority list for COVID-19 vaccinations.
In the letter, School Board Chair Lucile Kyle says she appreciates the efforts being made to deal with the pandemic and adds that even though Education Minister Stephen Lecce has been advocating for school staff to get their shots, teachers and other school workers are still waiting.
She goes on to say that the school board’s “staff and families are struggling daily with worry and anxiety” and that the recent decision to open up vaccinations to people 40 and older “opened the doors for stay-at-home people to have a vaccination when there are still front line workers who have not even had the opportunity.”
Kyle is asking the premier to add teachers and school staff to the priority list before any other changes to the rollout are made.
