Brighton council has begun to take a serious look at the problem of the availability of affordable housing in the community.
At its meeting Monday, council voted to have staff research what properties might be available for purchase and eventual development into affordable rental units.
Also council wants a list of existing buildings that could be converted into affordable housing.
Brighton currently has only two Rent-Geared-To-Income buildings and there is a very long waiting list to rent the units.
