Hastings Prince Edward Health reported five new cases of COVID-19 Monday along with one more death related to the virus.
Eight people within the health unit’s boundaries have now died from COVID since the start of the pandemic.
The HPE Public health dashboard indicates 102 cases are active with 12 resolved since Sunday.
Four of the new cases are in Belleville with the other one in Prince Edward County.
Two cases are related to close contact, one to travel, another to local spread with the cause of the other case pending.
There are 12 people in hospital with four in the ICU and one on a ventilator.
The seven day case rate per 100,000 people is 57.
Another five cases related to variants have been discovered, bringing the total to 224 of which 38 remain active.
As of Monday, 51,678 doses of vaccine have been administered with 3,534 people fully vaccinated.
The Health Unit says that’s 29% of the local population which has received one dose of vaccine and two per cent who have received both doses.
The HKPR District Health Unit dashboard shows 26 new cases of the virus in Northumberland but the number of active cases down to 93.
They do not report on Sundays.
There have been 51 recoveries there since Saturday’s report.
