Belleville Council is set to rubber stamp the use of telephone and internet voting as the primary method to cast ballots in the 2022 municipal election.
Councillors will see a final report on Monday that recommends the use of those alternative methods as a way to make voting easier and potentially increase the turnout.
If approved, eligible voters would be mailed an information card that includes a pin number and polling location, giving them the option to go to that poll, or use the PIN to vote through their computer, smart phone, telephone, or tablet.
City staff say a public comment period yielded more than 530 responses on the issue, with many people saying they were on board with the idea.
