There were three new COVID-19 cases Tuesday in Hastings Prince Edward.
Twenty-one cases remain active.
There have been two recoveries since Monday’s report.
The HPE Public Health dashboard shows all three of the new cases were in Belleville.
One is attributed to travel, another to close contact with the cause of the third case pending.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Piotr Oglaza says though the number of active cases has been creeping up, they really want to keep an eye on the number of new cases caused by local spread.
“So people who do not have a history of travel, who do not a history of being a high risk contact of someone else, a known case. And that percent, that proportion of cases has remained fairly steady. So individuals in our community are still adhering to all the measures.”
“So with every passing day, every passing week, more and more individuals are getting the first shot and more individuals getting their second shot. So, while I still say that the precautions are important because not everyone yet in our community from vulnerable populations has been immunized, it’s looking much better than it was, let’s say, in November or December of last year.”
No new cases were reported Tuesday in Northumberland.
There are 17 active cases there with four recoveries since Monday.
Ontario reported 966 new cases Tuesday province wide along with another 11 deaths.
