There was almost $6.7 million worth of construction activity in the city of Belleville in January which is a significant increase over a year ago.
The number of permits issued last month was only slightly higher than January 2020 – 46 permits last month compared to 41 the year before – but the difference in dollars was significant.
January 2020’s construction value was only $2.4 million.
New residential construction accounts for most of that difference.
Last year in January, there were only six permits valued at just over $1 million issued.
Last month, there were 18 new residential permits worth just under $4 million.
