Local COVID-19 assessment centres have been working very effectively lately.
Quinte Health Care board member Patrick Johnston told the board Tuesday the four assessment centres were overwhelmed when the pandemic began as they dealt with 750 to 900 people a day.
However as of two weeks ago things are much more in control.
“All of the four assessment centres were able to accept same day appointments, the length of stay was generally speaking no longer than 30 minutes and the return for results was 24 to 48 hours.”
As of the end of October there was an average of 215 people a day visiting the assessment centres. The main reason for the drop in visitors was the provincial government’s change in regulations as to who was eligible to receive a test.
