Winds gusting up to 90 kilometres per hour have caused dozens of power outages throughout the Quinte region.
Exact numbers are difficult to determine but around 10,000 homes and businesses were in the dark in our area as of 3 o’clock this (Monday) morning.
Hydro One crews are scrambling to make repairs as hydro poles were toppled and trees blown down on to hydro lines. Some trees fell onto vehicles and even houses.
Firefighters have been busy as well dealing with arcing and fires in poles and trees as well.
It isn’t known when the power will be restored. There were no outages in urban Belleville, an area served by Elexicon Energy.
