Thanksgiving Monday was anything but a nice holiday for the Greater Napanee Fire Department.
Early last night Napanee firefighters had to deal with a series of grass and brush fires plus a tractor trailer fire on Highway 401 at the same time.
The brush fires were on Lennox and Addington County Road 12 northwest of the town of Napanee and local firefighters were assisted by those from Tyendinaga Township. According to scanner monitor Scan-Quinte the fires were caused when a controlled burn got out of hand.
The tractor trailer fire was on the 401 westbound near Palace Road and firefighters from Stone Mills and Loyalist townships helped out with that.
There have been no reports of injury from either of the incidents. Highway 401 westbound was closed in the Napanee area until around 2 o’clock this morning (Tuesday).
