It’s getting down to the wire for companies making bids on building the ultra-fast internet service for Eastern Ontario.
Hastings County CAO Jim Pine, who has been steering the project, tells Quinte News he has been meeting with a number of companies about mapping, coverage, and requirements.
After the bid deadline later this month, officials will take time to review the proposed contracts.
Pine says he hopes a decision on the successful company will be made late this fall, allowing construction to get underway next year.
The project is expected to take four or five years.
