Prince Edward County is keeping municipal recreation facilities closed now until June 15.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says with group gatherings likely out of the question even beyond the current provincial declaration which is in place until May 12, they felt it was prudent to give event organizers ample notice to make arrangements.
Crystal Palace, arenas, museums, and town halls will remain closed to the public until Monday, June 15 in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
Municipal facilities are often used to host large events and gatherings beginning in late spring and early summer. However, given the current situation, the municipality anticipates a gradual recovery will take place over several months.
In early May, the municipality will make a decision on whether the closures will extend beyond June 15.
