The recreational trails in Stirling-Rawdon will get an upgrade this year.
The township has received a Community Economic Development grant of $8,000 from Trenval to undertake the work.
The idea is to make the trail system more accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
In a statement, Mayor Bob Mullin says, “The trail is to be upgraded with fitness stations, along with benches and garbage containers. The trail will be more accessible with a hard surface that will enhance and promote active living for all to enjoy”
As well, existing washrooms will be renovated to be accessible.
Trenval is funded by the federal Economic Development Agency for southern Ontario.
Trenval Board member Jamie O’Shea added, “Trenval is pleased to provide support to this project, not only for Stiring-Rawdon residents, but also for the surrounding communities to enjoy a trail that is accessible. Creating healthy communities helps cultivate a productive community fueling future economic growth.”
