Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says the RCMP has made the decision to pull back from Wet’suwet’en land in northwestern BC.
Blair is praising the Mounties’ work in trying to bring an end to rail blockades across the country, including Tyendinaga Township and Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, and is hopeful this will resolve the standoff.
Blair says conditions have now been met to have blockades removed.
The federal Crown-Indigenous relations minister is offering to meet today with Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs in northwestern British Columbia.
Hereditary Chiefs say they are visiting Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory Thursday, where community members have blocked a key east-west rail link between Toronto and Montreal.
