2019 was a year of growth for Stirling-Rawdon according to Mayor Bob Mullin.
In a ten month period, the municipality saw development was $2 million higher than last year, and there were a number of infrastructure improvements.
He said the Stirling Theatre got a new roof, the municipality’s website has been upgraded and will now have the audio from council meetings.
The bridge on Ridge Road, which was a fairly large project was also wrapped up in 2019.
The year wasn’t all positive though as the spring melt and flooding caused a number of headaches in Stirling-Rawdon as well.
He said there is also some uncertainty with the how deep the provincial government cuts will go and how much more responsibility the municipality will be expected to take on.
Mullin said he is hoping the provincial cuts don’t run much deeper as a municipality on has some much in reserve funds.
He also noted the provincial government made cuts to conservation authorities and Stirling-Rawdon deals with three different conservation authorities, making it very difficult for the municipality to meet their budget requirements.
