A Prince Edward County man was recognized by the municipality for his selflessness when he risked his own life to save two others.
On Tuesday night at Shire Hall, Jay Crowells received a Civic Recognition Award for his actions last January.

Councillor Bill Roberts nominated Crowells for the award and said he demonstrated a great act of courage and determination when he pulled two ice fishermen out of the Bay of Quinte waters.
Crowells then walked about a kilometer back to shore, pulling the two men along in a sled.
He has also received the Commissioner’s Citation for Bravery from the OPP.
