Quinte Conservation has issued a water safety statement for Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte in advance of some strong southwesterly winds.
According to Environment Canada, gale force winds exceeding 70 km/h are expected throughout the region into Wednesday, bringing high waves, building up to four metres by Wednesday evening.
During this period, there is a possibility for localized flooding and shoreline erosion due to wave uprush. Residents are reminded to exercise caution near and around water as banks may be unstable.
