A man ran and tried to hide but he didn’t escape from Belleville police officers late last night (Sunday).
Just before 11 o’clock, police spotted an erratic driver on West Moira Street. The vehicle turned in to Tripp Avenue and a suspect was seen running into a townhouse.
A resident allowed police in and the man was discovered hiding under a blanket in the basement.
The 37-year-old Belleville man was arrested for being impaired by drugs.
Meantime a search of the vehicle turned up cocaine and a set of brass knuckles.
The man was also found to be a prohibited driver. He was further charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of cocaine, and failing to comply with probation orders.
