UPDATE @ 12:15 p.m.: Quinte West OPP have closed a section of Bellevue Drive as firefighters continue to battle a house fire.
The fire at 285 Bellevue Drive, beside Highway 401, was reported just before 10:00 this morning.
Fire Chief John Whelan says the way the old farm house was constructed is making it difficult to attack the flames and that it’s too dangerous to send personnel inside.
He says they’re trying to fight the fire from the top and sides of the building and will be on the scene for another couple of hours at least.
He adds that at first, they weren’t sure if anyone was inside the home, but familiy members say they don’t believe the owners were home.
Bellevue Drive is closed between Philburn Road and Roblin Road until further notice.
Fire crews from Belleville are on stand by to help out if needed.
Some photos from the scene can be found below.

The business doesn’t seem to stop for Quinte West crews, after a call to a blaze this morning (wed).
Around 9:45 am, firefighters from Station 4 were called to a home at 285 Bellvue Drive, adjacent to the 401.
Flames were visible from the highway as fire and smoke were coming through the roof.
Station 3 was called in for support to help battle the blaze.
EMS and OPP were also called to the scene.
It was unknown if anyone was home at the time.
Motorists are asked to avoid Bellevue Drive at this time and Bellevue is closed at Roblin Road.
There are 23 firefighters on scene according to Fire Chief John Whelan.
This fire comes less than 12 hours after Station 4 wrapped up on scene at a barn fire on Gallivan Road yesterday.
