Protecting our air space and supporting missions are important parts of the funding announcement made today at CFB Trenton.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Marco Mendicino says this five year contract extension will support the maintenance of the RCAF’s fleet of CC-150 Polaris aircraft.
This will create 70 jobs here in Trenton and 30 in Mirabel, Quebec.
There is also an option for an additional five year extension.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis says this will enable the 437 Squadron to continue offering the outstanding services and support for which they are so well known.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says this is good news all around.
The 437 Squadron will be celebrating their 75th anniversary next year and in commemoration of the anniversary, a CC-150 Polaris was unveiled, newly painted in historical commemorative colours.
Mendicino says this squadron has a long and storied history and they should be proud of it.
He thanked the L3 MAS for all their hard work in keeping the CC-150 Polaris aircraft in the sky.
These aircraft have delivered 16 million pounds of fuel over Iraq since 2014 in Operation Impact alone says Mendicino, following through on their motto Omnia Passim – Anything Anywhere.
