The Wellington Dukes will play in at least the semi-finals of the 2018 Dudley Hewitt Cup.
Wellington improved its record at the tournament to 2-1 with a 6-3 win over the Cochrane Crunch on Thursday afternoon.
The Dukes jumped out to a four goal lead and survived a late push back from Cochrane, who had three in the third period, before Wellington added a fifth goal and an empty netted to solidify the victory.
Wellington had to kill off eight power plays and had just three man advantages of its own.
Bryce Yetman, Dan Panetta, Ben Evans, Andrew Rinaldi, Colin Doyle and Jackson Arcan all scored for the Dukes, while Jonah Capriotti made 22 saves in the win.
Wellington will play either the host Dryden Ice Dogs, or Thunder Bay North Stars again in their next game.
That game will either be a semi-final on Friday, or the championship game on Saturday, depending on who wins Thursday night’s tilt between Dryden and Thunder Bay.
The Ice Dogs are 2-0 heading into the final round robin game tonight while the North Stars are 1-1.
Cochrane falls to 0-3 with the loss and is eliminated from the tournament.
