We have an update on the Constable Eric Shorey story this morning.
According to the Belleville Police Service, Shorey handed in his resignation yesterday.
City police officials say his resignation was accepted and that the police service will have no further comment on the matter.
Earlier this week, the Ontario Civilian Police Commission rejected an appeal by Constable Shorey and upheld a previous decision stating he either resign or be terminated after being found guilty of misconduct under the Police Services Act.
Constable Shorey had been suspended from duty with pay since 2012.
