The province is seeking more than $100 million for the cleanup of several Nortel sites, including the Belleville location.
CBC is reporting that the Ministry of Environment is looking for the cash to clean up sites in Brockville, Kingston, London and the Belleville site on Sidney Street.
In the report, environmental lawyer Mark Mattson pointed to numerous contaminants left on various sites, including the one in Belleville.
Contaminants in Belleville leaked onto the adjacent school property, forcing the Catholic school board to move students for the first half of the school year.
Mattson says toxic gases have been leaking into the air, and continue moving in the ground.
Work to fix the school property is in the neighbourhood of $750,000 and the board is seeking $63 million.
The City of Belleville is seeking millions from the estate because the raceway is also next door.
Currently there are groups seeking $300 million from the bankrupt company.
