Staff and soldiers at CFB Trenton are celebrating a successful Government of Canada Workplace Charity Campaign.
The program, which runs in federal offices across Canada, gives government employees an option to donate to various charities and runs every fall.
This year organizers at 8 Wing were able to raise more than $124,600, shattering last year’s total of almost $98,000.
Some of the big contributors to the total were the Wing Commander’s Golf Tournament, which raised $20,000 on its own, as well as the internal “Let Your Hair Grow” campaign, which brought in $19,000.
This year, organizers also developed two special awards.
The “Big Heart Award” was given to the Canadian Forces Aerospace Warfare Centre, after 45% of its members contributed to the campaign, while the Wing Executive Branch was awarded the “Helping Hand Award”, since its members averaged over $350 per donation.
