The owner of Belleville’s Empire Theatre wants to see more municipal support for the arts.
On Wednesday, the CEO of Music Canada, Graham Henderson made a presentation in Belleville, on creating a music city.
Rashotte says he was disappointed that no member of council was in attendance.
He tells the Lorne Brooker Show if the talk was about hockey, every member would be in attendance.
Rashotte says the city has to do its part.
He says the local music scene is big, and the industry has to get the word out too.
Rashotte says the music industry in Quinte, the bars, the studios, the artists need to do their part, to educate councils and residents about the importance of music and what it can mean for the area.
He adds that the arts need to see municipal support in order to thrive.
