The unemployment rate in the wide eastern Ontario region, including the Quinte area, is at a low 5.7%.
This compares to 7.6% for Ontario and across Canada.
Executive director of the Quinte Economic Development Commission, Chris King, says this is more reflective of the local area than it has been over the past few years.
For a number of years, QEDC has complained that the statistics would show an unemployment rate much higher than would be the actual numbers in the Quinte area.
