It was a big day on Thursday in the Quinte region with regards to funding.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis went on a tour of the three municipalities that make up the riding; Belleville, Quinte West and Prince Edward County to hand out cheques for Federal Gas Tax funding. The funding is from the July 2016-17 installments.
From 2015-16, Belleville received a bump to just over $3 million from $2.8 million. Quinte West got $2.6 million, up from $2.4 the year before. And Prince Edward County received $1.5 million, a tiny step up from $1.4 in 2015-16.
The Federal Gas Tax Fund provides predictable, long term funding to municipalities to help them build and rehabilitate their infrastructure.
