Back to back wins means the Trenton Golden Hawks will play in the final for the Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Junior “A” Hockey Championship.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first period the OJHL champion Golden Hawks dominated the rest of the way in a 5-1 win over the host Kirkland Lake Gold Miners. Trenton Assistant GM John McDonald says a Belleville native stood out.
Danny Hanlon had a goal with two assists with Liam Morgan and Jordan Chard adding singles. The Golden Hawks outshot the Gold Miners 52-24.
Trenton closes out the round robin against Fort Frances this afternoon but regardless of the outcome get a bye to Saturday’s final.
The winner of the “Dudley” earns a berth in the national RBC Junior “A” hockey championship tournament in Lloydminster Alberta.
