The Chief of Staff for Quinte Health Care discussed physician assisted suicide at this week’s board meeting.
Doctor Dick Zoutman covered the new legislation, surrounding the sensitive issue.
He says doctors within QHC will be allowed to follow their conscience, but the legislation says they still have to refer patients.
Bill C-14 is restricted to competent adults who have an incurable illness or disease and for whom natural death is expected in the foreseeable future.
