A Belleville man has been sentenced for his role in a kidnapping investigation late last year.
In late November 2015, city police were called to a west end apartment building, after allegations that a 20 year old woman had been removed from an apartment by a man brandishing a knife.
Belleville Police discovered the victim at another residence, uninjured.
Adam Desbarres was charged with kidnapping, unlawfully in a dwelling, uttering threats, possession of a dangerous weapon and forcible confinement.
Desbarres was given a nine month prison sentence, 18 months probation, a weapons ban and must give a sample to the DNA data bank.
He has already served four months in custody.
