A Belleville man who refused to stop for police while speeding east of the city has been handed a jail sentence and a three-year driving ban.
Twenty-seven-year-old Joshua Gjelstad was sentenced to four months and seven days in jail after pleading guilty to several charges including flight from police, dangerous driving and possession of methamphetamines.
Court heard an OPP officer tried to stop a speeding vehicle on highway 401 on January 4, but the driver refused to pull over.
The vehicle later hit a tree on a county road near Marysville and the driver was arrested.
