There is some good news for local municipalities receiving social services through the Hastings-Quinte system.
The Hastings-Quinte Joint Social Services committee has set a 2016 budget that shows a decrease in payments from Belleville, Quinte West and Hastings County.
The $17.2 million budget represents a decrease of 1.37% from last year.
Director of social services Steve Gatward says the department is getting rid of old single social service houses and building new ones.
Six million dollars has been set aside for capital projects.
Belleville pays 41% of the municipal contribution to the social services budget, Hastings County 30% and Quinte West 28%, with the province funding the rest.
