There will be no more live theatre at the Old Trenton Town Hall.
Quinte West council recently voted to invest $100,000 into the hall to bring the upstairs theatre up to building code standards.
It had been determined that the stage area needed a fire curtain hanging from it.
However, councillor Allan DeWitt says the fire curtain would be wildly expensive.
The Old Trenton Town Hall downtown is the home of the Trent Port Historical Society and councillor DeWitt says council will continue to pay the monthly bills for the Society and future is good.
A council sponsored working group continues to work on a business plan for the Old Town Hall.
