The Mayor of Belleville is confident that council will make a long awaited decision on where to locate a new police headquarters sooner than later in this new year.
Taso Christopher made the comment during a speech at the new years levee at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
Council is deciding between two locations, part of the Veridian property at College West and Sidney Street, and a part of the fairgrounds land, east of Sidney Street.
Negotiations with the Belleville Agricultural Society are ongoing regarding the fairgrounds location.
Estimates 3 years old put the cost of a new police headquarters at between 16 and 21 million dollars.
