A Quinte West man has been charged following a domestic dispute involving a woman and a 12-year-old child.
Belleville police responded to a residence in the city’s west end at around 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
It was reported to police that a verbal argument between a male and female escalated into a physical altercation.
During the incident, police say that the male attempted to enter a room occupied by the female, damaging the door, before punching the female.
The male then left the room and punched his 12-year-old child.
During the investigation, officers learned of an earlier incident that occurred within the same week in which the male kicked a hole in a door and pushed the female.
As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Quinte West man was arrested and charged with:
- Mischief – destroys or damages property x2
- Assault – spousal x2
- Assault
He was released on an undertaking with a court date in October.
