The Central Lakes Association of Realtors has provided an update on home sales within the region for August
The catchment area includes Hastings, Prince Edward, and Northumberland County’s, along with Peterborough, Durham, and the Kawartha’s.
Prince Edward, Northumberland, and Hastings recorded strong real estate activity, with all three regions seeing properties sell at an average of 97-per cent of their listing price.
Northumberland and Hastings led in sales volume at 118 and 171 homes respectively, while single-detached properties heavily dominated activity across the board.
Prince Edward County commanded the highest year-to-date average price at over $707,000 though its homes averaged the longest time on market at 74 days compared to around 50 days in neighboring areas.

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY
In August 2026, Prince Edward County recorded 34 home sales totaling over $23 million in volume, driven heavily by single-detached properties which made up 30 of those transactions.
Across all home types, the average sale price stood at $676,905 with a median price of $600,000, while properties sold at an average of 97% of their listing price after sitting on the market for an average of 74 days.
Year-to-date for 2026, the region has reached 255 total home sales valued at $180.5 million, maintaining an overall average sale price of $707,808.
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY
Northumberland County recorded 118 total residential sales with a total dollar volume of $83.66 million, averaging a sale price of $709,023 and a median price of $625,000.
Detached homes dominated the regional market, accounting for 107 of those sales at an average price of $724,198 and spending an average of 48 days on the market.
Across all property types in the county, homes sold at an average of 97% of their listing price, supported by 288 new listings and 786 active listings at the end of the month.
HASTINGS COUNTY
In August 2026, the Hastings County housing market recorded 171 sales across all home types, generating a total dollar volume of $95,094,430.
Homes sold at an average price of $556,108 and spent an average of 50 days on the market, closing at 97% of their original listing price.
Inventory remained active throughout the region, with 342 new listings added during the month to bring the total active inventory to 1,028 homes.
