An intimate partner violence (IPV) call has resulted in several charges against a Peterborough County man.
On August 13 shortly after 12 p.m., Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding an assault that had taken place at a residence in Peterborough County. The complainant advised that they had been in an argument which led to physical contact. The accused left the residence prior to police arrival so a description of the individual and the direction of travel was provided to police.
Officers arrived on scene and had EMS attend to provide care to the victim. The victim provided police with a statement which included past incidents of assault. Other officers were able to locate the accused who was arrested and taken to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.
A 67-year-old male from Peterborough County was arrested and charged with;
• Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
• Assault – spousal (three counts)
• Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm (two counts)
• Careless storage of firearms, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
The accused was released with conditions and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a future date.
