CC-130J Hercules from 8 Wing Trenton to conduct flypast for National Peacekeepers’ Day

FA2011-0043-06 6 October 2011 Trenton, Ontario. A CC-130J Hercules tail number 130612, doing fly bys, landings and take offs during Ex MOUNTAIN STAR. Exercise MOUNTAIN STAR was conducted to maintain and develop the capabilities of military personnel while conducting modern air expeditionary operations. Military personnel participated a simulated humanitarian mission while effectively operating and sustaining a deployed operating base. The exercise was also designed to train military personnel in the non-combatant evacuation operation (NEO) of civilians from another country during a deteriorating security situation. Military personnel from 436 Transport Squadron, 8 Wing Trenton, Ont., and the Royal 22e Regiment participated in the exercise held at 8 Wing’s Mountain View training area. 436 Sqn is typically tasked with carrying personnel and materiel on a global response basis and must be prepared to deliver 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Tactical flying is an equally important part of any 436 Sqn mission. The skills associated with aerial delivery of troops and equipment by parachute or delivery of humanitarian aid to isolated and austere locations are increasingly sought after as part of Canada's contribution to operations around the world.
