A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Quinte region.
Environment Canada is reporting that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
This could include torrential downpours, with local rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm, as well as wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h and quarter to ping pong ball size hail.
The weather agency says the possible severe thunderstorm could happen late this morning through early this evening.
