Resident of the City of Belleville are being invited to take part in a Statutory Public Meeting related to a proposed amendment to the Housing, Downtown Revitalization and Brownfield Redevelopment Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
The public meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 4 p.m. in Council Chambers on the fourth floor of Belleville City Hal;.
In a release from the city, they say that the purpose of the meeting is to give an opportunity for the public to provide comments on the proposed amendment to the Community Improvement Plan.
The proposed amendment applies to all lands within the geographic boundaries of the City of Belleville. As a result, no key map is provided.
The Community Improvement Plan offers City-wide financial incentive programs aimed at encouraging:
- the development of missing middle and affordable housing;
- the rehabilitation of existing buildings to revitalize the downtown; and
- the redevelopment and rehabilitation of underutilized brownfield sites to support new housing and revitalization goals.
The proposed amendment is designed to offer Council more flexibility when reviewing eligibility requirements to expedite approvals of major housing projects.
