Loyalist College has experienced a cyberattack.
College officials have confirmed the attack was identified last Thursday, but has since been contained.
On Tuesday, Quinte News was notified by a source that all communications within the school were down.
While the campus remains open and in-person classes are continuing as normal, online classes are suspended until further notice.
The network outage is currently affecting a range of services, including campus internet, email, student registration, and tuition payment systems.
OntarioLearn courses are continuing as scheduled and both the college website and telephone services remain fully operational.
We have asked school officials about the ransom demand and how it is being handled, however, we have not received an update at this time.
College officials are thanking the community for their patience and are urging students to check the website regularly for updates.
