With a tentative deal between the United State and Iran to end the war in the Middle East expected to be signed later this week, Canadians are ready to see prices at the pumps start coming down.
President of Canadians for Affordable Energy Dan McTeague was on the Lorne Brooker Show Tuesday morning and says prices should drop four cents a litre Wednesday.
“If you can hold off again, another, well, could probably be somewhere in the order of another two, maybe a three cent decrease come Thursday. So if you can hold off until Thursday morning the net decrease will be about seven cents a litre.”
McTeague says while gas per litre will likely average $1.50 to a $1.55 across the country by the weekend, prices will still be about 20 cents a litre more than at this time last year.
The Swiss foreign ministry says the deal between the U.S. and Israel will be signed at a resort near Luzern on Friday.
It remains unclear what is in the agreement as it has yet to be released publicly in full.
Meanwhile, Iran’s top diplomat said Tuesday the tentative deal to end the war with the U.S. would require the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon.
