A popular Belleville restaurant has closed its doors.
Shoeless Joe’s, located on Bell Boulevard, announced via a Facebook post on Wednesday that the business was closing down effective immediately. They thanked their patrons for their support over several years of business.
A notice was posted on the front of the building that same day, by First Bell Corporation, which owns the property. The notice claims the business owes more than $133,700 in unpaid rent, and that their tenancy has been terminated. The business was given five days to retrieve any property from the site, or be subjected to storage fees.
The announcement prompted outcry on social media, as people expressed their disappointment at the closure.
